Edible Attire

Works from "Ishzone" Ishara Jayakody's first exhibition, "Edible Attire"

Coming off of a successful exhibition on her home continent of Australia, artist Ishara Jayakody opens her first exhibit in NYC later this week. Food and fashion collided as innovative Jayakody experimented with taste-bud favorites, igniting many-a-sweet tooth along the way, in her first exhibition, entitled "Edible Attire." Gaining only five pounds in the process, tech-met-art-met-fashion-met-culinary genius as this delicious first bite in the industry.  Her next project, to be unveiled on Tuesday, May 13 and named Ingredients of NYC (information for attendance: here), explores the culinary culture, the energy and empowerment of the city, and what exactly fuels New York.

With six European boutiques, it was about time that Efva Attling opened up shop in NYC. Long removed from her pop-star days of the 1980s, Efva Attling's jewelry is rated number one in Scandinavia and is now taking taking New York City, and the Meatpacking District (her boutique and NYC Flagship Store, which opened this past October, is located on prime real estate at 36 Little West 12th Street) by storm. With a vast variety of collections, and keeping to her inspirational mantra, "Beauty with a Thought," Efva Attling offers everything from sterling silver, to 18k gold, to magnificent crystal pieces, to beautiful one-of-a-kind couture jewels.

As a stylist, I sometimes find it more fun to work backstage rather than watch the show from the front of the house. There is soooo much energy and excitement backstage, and meeting and dressing all the models is soooooooo much fun! Every Fashion Week, I make an effort to work some shows and this Fashion Week is no exception. Although taking pictures backstage is strictly prohibited (I snuck you just one from the make-up room before anyone arrived!), I can tell you that Farah Angsana's couture dresses were BEAUTIFUL.
