Humble Genes

Devesh Samtani was a talented, young, smart and promising designer that was set to enter his freshman year at NYU when his life was tragically cut short just two weeks prior to the start of his first semester. From Hong Kong, Samtani was already working on establishing himself as a fashion designer with a cool brand comprising of hats and hoodies called Humble Genes. While remembered as humble, Devesh was also known as someone who was full of life and to keep his legacy, his friends and family decided to proceed with the launching of his brand. With all proceeds going to the Devesh Samtani Foundation, this non-profit is already helping children from low-income families receive quality educations. Fashion meets charity and this month, in honor of what would have been Devesh's 19th birthday, the foundation launched their first initiative - Devu's Mathlete - a program to aid development in potential young math stars. In    a time where there is so much turmoil in the world, this foundation helps spread love, joy and kindness, just the way Devesh did.

Not only has President Obama dined there, but now Harlem native and style icon, Lana Turner, has set up shop in the form of an exhibition of her impressive private vintage clothing collection.  On display through the new year, this is not to be missed. Beyond fantastic atmosphere, complete with delicious food, drink, music and company, Turner adds major value with her magnificently curated show complete with beautiful, breathtaking hats, clothing, books and more.
