Native Frequency

Likely the most relevant piece of jewelry in this current (political and pandemic) climate, Native Frequency really hits a home run with this design. Beautifully handcrafted, and with a message that is meaningful and brings you back to peace and calm, each bracelet truly reminds you that "This Too Shall Pass." Between the inscribed words and the maze etched onto the bracelet, you'll be reminded that all paths lead back to your true self and you will be able to endure any difficult time.

Below is an amazing parable to consider and remember. The words helps to solidify the statement that the bracelet makes.
"This Too Shall Pass."
There was a king and he once said to the court sages, “I have a ring with one of the finest diamonds in the world and I want to hide a message under the stone that can be useful in a situation of extreme despair. I will give this ring to my heirs and I want it to serve them faithfully. Think of what kind of message should be there. It must be very short to fit in the ring.”
The sages knew how to write treatises, but did not express themselves in one short sentence. They thought and thought, but did not come up with anything.
The king complained about the failure of his venture to a faithful old servant who raised him from infancy and was part of the family. And the old man said to him:
“I’m not a sage, I’m not educated, but I know such a message. For many years spent in the palace, I met a lot of people. And once I served a visiting mystic whom your father invited. And he gave me this message. I ask that you don’t read it now. Save it under the stone and open it only when there’s no way out at all.
The king listened to the old servant.
After some time, the enemies attacked the country and the king lost the war. He fled on his horse and his enemies pursued him. He was alone, his enemies were many. He rode to the end of the road. There was a huge deep cliff before him; if he fell there, it would be the end.
He could not go back, as the enemies were approaching. He already heard the clatter of their horses' hooves. He had no way out. He was in complete despair.
And then he remembered the ring. He opened it and found an inscription: “This too shall pass”
After reading the message, he felt that everything was quiet. Apparently, the pursuers got lost and proceeded in the wrong direction. Horses were no longer heard.
The king was filled with gratitude to the servant and the unknown mystic. The words were powerful. He closed the ring and set out on the road. He gathered his army and returned to his state.
On the day when he returned to the palace, they arranged a magnificent meeting, a feast for the whole world - the people loved their king. The king was happy and proud.
An old servant came up to him and said softly: “Even in this moment, look at the message again.”
The King said, “Now I am a winner, people are celebrating my return, I'm not in despair, not in a hopeless situation."
“Listen to this old servant,” the servant answered. “The message works not only in moments when everything is bad, but also in moments of victory.”
The king opened the ring and read: "This too shall pass."
And again he felt a silence fall over him, although he was in the midst of a noisy dancing crowd. His pride dissolved. He understood the message. He was a wise man.
And then the old man said to the king: “Do you remember everything that happened to you? Nothing and no feeling is permanent. As night changes day, so moments of joy and despair replace each other. Accept them as the nature of things, as part of life.”

Joerael Numina x Mobilize Walls

In the current political climate, the back and forth banter and negative connotations that come with so much of the news, whether it is “real” or “fake” (who really knows!?), can be downright exhausting. It is most refreshing to come across feel-good stories, outlets that promote good Samaritans doing the “right” thing, and stories where people are uniting and coming together to help one another - and for no underlying reasons except to just make the world a better place. Joerael Numina is one of those people.

A Texas born and based artist, Joerael is the founder of the Mobilize Walls, a series of murals that have, simply put, “out sm(art)ed and out scaled” President Trump’s proposed wall. The concept is quite the exact opposite of “The Wall” we have all come to know, as it is a tool for uniting rather than a means of separating.
Mr. Numina  grew up defying society, whether it be on a skateboard (which is political in itself) or through graffiti writing and his other artistic outlets. He is no stranger to pushing the boundaries. In a self-proclaimed "Texas Fashion," his art is blunt but kind, embodies a sense of humanity while still addressing serious matter. He questions the fibers of communities in which he displays his works, while inviting the community to get involved and do the same, to challenge and provide critical thinking and create awareness that goes beyond any "walls" that physically exist.

Numina cites drawing has his favorite form of expressing himself. While it is on the other end of the spectrum from mural painting, drawing is not done for the public, require precision and is between the artist and his paper. His murals and specifically this incredible project are on a much different scale both figuratively and literally. It's not something an art collector could collect, it is erected in    order to become the fabric of the place it is made and serves as a public experience that can't be hoarded by one person. It can start a conversation, whether it be from the artist to the world or to two neighbors that have never met that have decided to venture outside to explore this new fabric of their society. A wall that is far from "a wall," Joerael's Mobilize Walls are structures that prove to create a bridge to connect all those around it.

Destination Unknown

Having taken part in JCC Krakaw's Inaugural Ride for the Living, our interest in Auchwitz and the Holocaust has skyrocketed. While it can at times be difficult to watch and listen to the stories from war, it is empowering and important to share the stories of survival.  A new film, Destination Unknown, hits home and is incredibly moving. The documentary (which we were lucky enough to attend a special private screen of) was released theatrically this month and is a compilation of valuable and powerful testimonies that keep history alive. A must-see piece no matter your ethnicity, religion or race. A true display of hope, humanity and the importance of the past as we look to the future.

Trendsetting With LadyLux

LadyLux is your one-stop online magazine for everything you need in life. With news in beauty, travel, fashion, and lifestyle, LadyLux has all of the priorities covered...and then some! Founder Elizabeth Wahler saw more to life than those luxurious, tangible things that we enjoy so much, but she recognized the impact that one could make on the world. For this reason, LadyLux is also responsible for both holding and covering major charity events as well as issues outside of the"modern luxury" realm. Overall, LadyLux has truly set the standard for luxury publishing. Not only does this site clear through the clutter and bring you the best knowledge and news about everything from products to events, but it inspires you and encourages you to get out there and take part as well! The true LadyLux girl "believes in herself, avoids licking the lollipop of mediocrity, and always acts with love" (via LadyLux).

And I definitely was not kidding about getting out there and taking part...In fact, as a subscriber and avid reader of the site, I was estatic when LadyLux approached me to ask if I wouldn't mind contributing as a guest blogger! I mean...WOULD I MIND?! Of course not! With a recent invasion of Grecian-inspired fashions, ranging from those on the runway this past week at Berlin's 2010 Fashion Week to the new YSL Belle d'Opium Perfume that is set to hit stores this fall, LadyLux looked to Belles&Rebelles to take on the style and bring it to the streets. Check out the featured article here as well as the pictures below to see our interpretation of Greek Lux!
