Better Angels

Better Angels explores the relationship between the United States and China and takes the stance of enforcing the importance of an amicable relationship between the two. Seemingly worlds apart, the film examines the tumultuous relationship the two countries have endured, yet shows how alike the two countries are and how if and when they work together, the benefits are immense for both parties. Human interest stories are engaging and the points made are interesting. Informative and intense, Better Angles is a propagandistic documentary that will certainly get you thinking.

Chained For Life

An examination of disability and the power of what is deemed as "beauty" in  the entertainment industry and in society, Chained For Life is a new film that addresses these issues.  Brooklyn-based Filmmaker Aaron Schimberg delivers a Twilight Zone-esque, interesting, surreal satire, that will leave you both heart-warmed, yet questioning the real meanings of beauty and humanity.

Boom For Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat explores the  early years of renowned artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. This beautiful and informative documentary by Sara Driver transports its audience to a bohemian, disease stricken New York City and the beyond humble beginnings of one of the most important artists of the 20th century. A poet, a painter, a "maker," Basquiat lived in a time when New York was shifting in terms of its art culture. Personal accounts by friends help build the story and shape the most factual image possible of Basquiat pre-fame. Destination Unknown

Having taken part in JCC Krakaw's Inaugural Ride for the Living, our interest in Auchwitz and the Holocaust has skyrocketed. While it can at times be difficult to watch and listen to the stories from war, it is empowering and important to share the stories of survival.  A new film, Destination Unknown, hits home and is incredibly moving. The documentary (which we were lucky enough to attend a special private screen of) was released theatrically this month and is a compilation of valuable and powerful testimonies that keep history alive. A must-see piece no matter your ethnicity, religion or race. A true display of hope, humanity and the importance of the past as we look to the future.
