Tomas Saraceno x Particular Matter(s) x The Shed

Better late than never, run - don't walk - to The Shed NYC this weekend before this amazing exhibition ends on April 17. A two level "spider web" of sorts, all of your senses are ignited in  a concert of sounds and vibrations. Tomás Saraceno's Particular Matters is a unique, inexplicable experience. Sophisticated, yet playful, the experience is unlike any other as you interact as if you are a spider in a web. Further artwork is displayed throughout the galleries where light, shadows and shape take on new meaning. As Saraceno's largest exhibition to date, it is certainly not one to be missed.

A Turtle on a Fence Post

Theater is back! And in a big way! Having opened last night, A Turtle on a Fence Post is the hot new musical in town. A comedy, the music numbers are catchy and the story compelling. Inspired by a true story of a successful New Yorker that gets thrown into a fraud scandal and has to deal with the most powerful men of the city.  The play brings a lightheartedness to the sticky, serious situation. There's something for everyone here, as it hits upon love, life, truth, forgiveness and freedom."When you see a turtle on a fence post, you know it didn't get there by itself. It doesn't belong there. You wonder who put it there..."

The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story

An eye opening examination of Lou Pearlman, the film "The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story" takes a thorough look at the man behind some of the most beloved boy bands in history. Lance Bass presents a documentary that collects first hand experiences with Pearlman and exposes his cons and fraudulent activity. Having grown up in the 90s and early 2000s, the golden age for the boy band, this film proves to be a shocking and eye opening documentation of what was really happening in the entertainment world, and beyond. Nostalgic and disturbing at the same time, this YouTube original film, which premiers this week in LA and NYC is a must-see.

Something Wonderful

Something Wonderful: Rodgers and Hammerstein's Broadway Revolution is nothing short of well, something wonderful. Author Todd S. Purdum presents a well-researched account of the duo that is easily the most iconic Broadway play-writes.  As pioneers during the "great age of American Songbooks," Roger and Hammerstien penned some of the most well-known musicals in history, including The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Carousel, which happens to currently be enjoying it's Broadway revival here in NYC. This book celebrates the legacy of these two most legendary powerhouses and provides first hand accounts of the two with quotes from some of the most celebrated actors, actresses and other entertainment big wigs. A must read for anyone who enjoys the theater, this book is informative and a testament to the transformative power that Rodgers and Hammerstein had over the entire musical theater industry.
